The other day
published a great read on how the Climate Alarm crowd has bombarded the world with an amazing amount of Hyperbole. Read here: No Political Movement On Earth Can Match the Hyperbole of the Climate-Alarm Community It is a good read and caused me to reflect a bit on my youth. At 56 years of age, it has occurred to me that I have been bombarded by this nonsense since I was old enough to comprehend it. Fortunately for me and my siblings, we had parents that encouraged us to read - thank you dad, of all the things you did for me, that gift is likely the best.
Along with reading, the other staple thing that happened when I was young was the evening news. Every night after supper without fail. One night during the news the alarm was going out about the coming ice age. I asked dad what he thought about it and he used a word I did not know in his reply. “Son that’s just an over educated jack ass using hyperbole to try to scare us into doing something stupid like going back to using horses to farm.”
I knew immediately what to do next. You see my father would occasionally use words that were not yet in our vocabulary and when he did, it was expected to go get Webster, which I did. After learning the definition of the word, I again asked my father if he thought we were going into an ice age again and what his thoughts were on it. Let the geology, meteorology, lessons begin. We had a pretty good library on our farm because my Father loved to read, his nose was in a book before milking in the morning and after the news at night until bed time.
I knew what a glacier was, because of where I grew up. My grandfathers farm was nine miles north of Big Stone City South Dakota, adjacent to Big Stone lake. One of the many glacially formed lakes in SD, ND, and Minnesota. This had all been explained to me by dad and grandad. It is also where my love of power generation was established. I watched the Big Stone power plant built from the barn on our farm. I digress.
My first point in this is: Teach your kids to read, research, question, and critically think. My second point is: If someone is crying wolf, they probably have a motive other than attention. Money is a great motivator, attention is just a great side effect.
My final point in all of this is: It is only because of reading and research, (and a couple of great teachers), that I have been able to not fall victim to all of the last 50 or so years of hyperbolic assault on my brain. From Ice Ages, Right Guard and Aqa Net, Oxygen depravation due to atmospheric ozone, and Oceans Boiling, I am comforted to be told by the UN that we only have two remaining years to correct the ship before it sinks.
We need to continue to hammer back with facts. All those with reach need to use it, and those with the money to get the word of respected but canceled scientist out need to do it. Its time to speak louder with intellect than the boy who cry’s wolf. We are not doing it now, and we need to.
It is the prophets of anthropogenic climate alarm, prognosticating to all the people of planetary residence, relying on their propensity to participate in the plethora of pretenses that push practicality into preposterous problems only to further their goal of complete power. Global Patronage of One world power.
I hope that last bit wasn’t too much, and I hope you got a chuckle out of it. Thanks Dave for the thoughts.
