We are all going to die! All fossil fuels need to stop now, blah blah blah, belch. It is old isn’t it? So today is Earth Day. What do those that celebrate earth day give us? Doom. We are simply all going to die, human activity is destroying earth, third rock from the sun. If we do not stop all energetic activity now, revert to cave man life, and use only four squares of toilet paper per day, we are simply doomed and all going to die. Earth Day is a coopted day, and its coopted from an old Paegan ritual day.
May Day. The modern version of May Day, whom anyone younger than the age of 40 doesn’t even know is a holiday, celebrates labor. It was pre-labor day. It is not what May Day, the holiday is. May Day actually celebrates this earth, our spring and our birth, it is somewhat similar to Easter. Though no priest of any faith will ever admit to that.
As a young lad, I remember those mothers and young girls running about our farm community leaving May Day baskets on porches and front steps. When I was old enough to understand it was told to me, we celebrate a new spring and crops in the ground and new calves. Made sense to my young self then. It was completely loving and optimistic for the season. It had nothing to do with Labor. They co-opted it, then gave up and now we have Labor Day in September, which is good.
May Day died. No one even knows what it is now. A holiday started by subsistence farmers a few hundred years ago is now gone, co-opted by Labor movements and now the great climate scam. Earth Day. I would ask anyone that reads my sputtering’s, is there any optimism at all in anything you read today. Nope, we are all going to die and while dyeing, destroy the Earth too. Its a woeful side effect of our derelict existence on Earth.
So on this Earth Day, I abstain, I move to celebrate May Day in the Old Way, and leave a random basket of cookies and candy on the steps of someone I do not know, with a note that say’s “Happy Spring, may your planting go well and your fruits be harvested.”
Perhaps, just perhaps that person will wonder at the gift and look up May Day. God Bless you all.
If the Holiday Earth Day actually meant anything, it would be a positive holiday, a celebration of our gift of the rock we live on. In my memory it has been nothing but doom. None of which has ever come to pass.
Enjoy the gifts of spring, they are wonderful, bountiful, and their beauty is not quantifiable.
Happy Earth Day, we are not going to die, we are not destroying the Earth and I know, we all have a special place to be in the Spring time. The rebirth of all things we treasure to see. Well except for those folks in the cities that have never seen a real wild flower.
Keep your acre thousand killing solar farms, and you bird killing, bee killing, bat killing wind spinning whirly gigs, the hell out of our truth. our environment that we who believe in true conservation out of it. We cannot give up a square mile (640 acres) for a 1600 MGW power plant. But we can give up 200,000 acres for the same wind or solar farm. Its a blight on our, Our being those that cherish our view every day, nope, cannot see it.
Oh and one last stupid question to those that profess wind and solar can make it the best, we gave up wind power in the 30”s, in the 50’s we had a complete grasp of fusion. Why on Earth would one trade the power of fusion for wind? Kind of like Fred Flintstone trading his feet for a snail… Really stupid.
Happy Earth Day all,
Spud.
